Things to Do In and Around Salchi

Beaches of Salchi

The Beaches

So many beaches to choose from! Aside from having your own local, often empty beaches at your immediate disposal (like the one pictured above), other well-known beaches in the area are Mazunte, Zipolite, San Augustin, Chahue and Tangolunda. For the most famous surf spots, Barra de La Cruz is just over an hour away, with Puerto Escondido about 90 minutes in the opposite direction.

Oaxacan Food and Drink

While best known for mole and mezcal, Oaxacan cooking seldom disappoints. We highly recommend the Manta Raya Hotel, a short walk away from our villa in Salchi. Other restaurants are located in La Crucecita: visit Giordano's trattoria for excellent homemade pasta and other dishes.

Ruins, Gardens, and More!

Parque Eco-Arqueologico Copalita is an archaeological site with indigenous ruins, museum and park area. Another interesting site to visit is Hagia Sofia, a botanical garden that also features nature trails and a zip line. It is located towards the mountains, just past the town of Santa Maria de Huatulco.
Many other tours are arranged out of La Crucecita, including whitewater rafting, scuba diving, snorkeling, boat rentals, and other activities!
